Top 100 Searches For Hybrid Cars and Vehicles - August 2007

In my full time career, I spend a great deal of time helping companies figure out how people are searching for their businesses, products and services. As I continue on my journey toward researching the advantages of hybrids and helping my readers get useful information on hybrid cars and other vehicles…including the pros and cons of hybrid cars…I thought it might be interesting to find the top 10 hybrid car searches. As I dug in a bit more, I discovered thousands of ways that people are scouring the Internet to find articles on hybrid cars, trucks, suvs, and so forth. To make this post useful but not ridiculously long…I decided a middle ground of the 100 most popular hybrid car searches would do the trick. In doing my research, I tried to remove hybrid searches that weren’t related to the auto industry…so hopefully I didn’t miss any. If I discover that this data is useful to our readers, I’ll post this on a monthly basis.

There are a number of paid and free resources for gathering search data, and these come from a several sources…so while it’s not a perfect mash up of how people are researching hybrids, I would guess it’s a fair representation. It’s kind of fun to see that some of these hybrid queries are for vehicles that have yet to hit the market. I was also a but surprised to learn that honda related hybrid searches outnumbered toyota related ones by nearly 50%. That will be a fun trend to follow over time. Also, the singular version searches such as those for a hybrid car outnumber the plural searches for hybrid cars…again by more than 40%. Lastly, the most popular hybrid car model searches are for civics, followed by the escape, camry, highlander, accord, and prius (almost the opposite of what I expected to see).
